The original aims of the Lothian Foundation

Established in October 1986, the Lothian Foundation has remained loyal to its original aims, which are to educate the public in the problems and ways of achieving better relations between the peoples of the European Union, and between them and other peoples, particularly those of the United States.

In pursuing these aims the Foundation has developed a programme of activities focusing on certain aspects of the theory and history of international relations arising from the work and influence of the late Philip Kerr, 11th Marquess of Lothian

The post-Brexit era

In the post-Brexit era, our mission is to be faithful to Lothian’s specific field of interests, which were, among others, the question of a federal revision of the British Constitution and Anglo-American relations.

Our present goal is therefore to educate the public in the problems and ways of achieving better relations between the peoples of the European Union, and between them and other peoples, particularly those of the United Kingdom and the United States.
